“So Long, Marianne” is a charm necklace in response to the love letter written from Leonard Cohen to his long time muse and love, Marianne Ihlen. The letter is sweet, with so many underlying notes including fear, regret, familiarity and togetherness. It is the end of something, and the beginning of something new. This letter is the precipice of the unknown being addressed by one friend to another; two people who clearly have had a deep connection.

Each charm represents a reference to lines from the song, “So Long, Marianne” which Cohen wrote in dedication to her.

Charms are often collected to commemorate a time or a moment. The song by Cohen is like a charm bracelet dedicated to his muse and the moments they shared together. It tells a story of the ups and downs of two lovers.
