Artist Statement

This work is a collaboration between me, an artist of Indian origin with the Indigenous Diné couple, Daman and Marie Thompson. The pair of buttons I received are a representation of the hard and repetitive process of production. My intention with this pair was to bring their brilliance to another part of the body using forged sterling silver. Forging is central to my practice as a silversmith. I intended to combine my own steady practice with that of the collaborating artists to create a visual dialogue that is a homage to our crafts production practices. I used forged sterling silver to adorn the buttons and re-envision their function as earrings.
