My work begins with the intimate moment of returning home after a day of fatigue. Opening a dark room door and watching the space brighten with light is an ordinary scene, yet to me it carries a deep sense of comfort, welcome, and recovery. This simple act of transition inspires me, the way a space can change instantly, shifting from heaviness to relief, from coldness to warmth, from darkness to brightness.
I translate this experience into jewelry by combining elements of doors and windows with various forms of lamps. Using architectural outlines with glass spheres and crystals that reflect, transmit, and refract light, I aim to create small pieces that evoke the sense of longing and emotions contained in that fleeting moment.

Artist Bio:
Jung Ki Min is a New York based artist, jeweler, and designer. She earned a BFA in Jewelry from Pratt Institute and later received her MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work reflects the emotional landscape of living abroad, often addressing themes of displacement, longing, and symbiosis. With a strong foundation in metalsmithing, she creates pieces that seamlessly blend metal with a diverse range of materials.
