The Ammonite Earrings are from the latest collection, Fractals. Ammonites were sea dwelling moluscs whose shell turned to stone when they diesd. Alejandro found inspiration in the town where he currently lives, Villa de Leyva, Colombia which has a rich history in paleontology. Scientists have discovered dinsosaur and amonite fossils from the area, which was once an ocean (now a mountainous desert). The ammonite fossils, which are dated to be 66 million years old can be found throughout the town and are incorporated into the natural architecture of buildings, structures and the cobblestone streets.
