Inspired by urban landscapes combined with my passion for mathematics and driven by my love affair with color, my designs are comprised of upcycled social culture and architectural materials. Together these inspirations are the creative backbone of my modern yet playful visual language in the form of jewelry. An affinity for color and bold shapes, a direct reflection on my years of pop cultural influences, have informed how I see jewelry as a major role in self-expression.
These materials all have naturally occurring but unique graphic qualities with inherent beauty and strengths beyond their functioning identity. Exploring and forming them are the result of my unyielding curiosity. Pushing each materials’ boundaries, whether it be the colored patterns in the existing street patinas of upcycled skateboards or the speckled, terrazzo-like effect of the reclaimed plastic composed countertops, paired with minimal sterling silver designs, creating comfortable yet powerful pieces. In my jewelry design conversations, color and texture are more than surface aesthetic qualities; they are emotional connection points between the materials and the viewer. These dual factors are the reasons why the jewelry resonates memory, time, and place to whomever encounters it.
Striving to create fine, modern yet distinct sculptural designs that help harness a unique sense of self, through a playful point of view, is at the core of my studio practice telling my story of what contemporary jewelry can be.
