So Young Park’s work concept is based on microorganisms such as cells, tissue, and nerves. Built on tiny elements her jewelry describes reincarnation which can be regarded as the sprouting of new life, comparable to newly created cell division and cell proliferation from death. Some of her work expresses life’s coexistence with overgrown shaggy dead nervous tissue and newborn nerves. The small elements, hammered textures, fine wires, concave discs, beads, etc. represent the numerous cells and are combined all together to create nerves for a new life. These life complexities allow her to represent them with lots of colors, textures and dynamic movement.
