Artist Statement

An openness to alternative materials and crossover between metal disciplines was encouraged in my Bachelor programme. Living in Germany and working in Goldsmith workshops deepened my technical skills and I try to bring these two aspects together in my jewellery. My way of making is instinctive. I don? design or draw before I start, but I doodle and sketch while I make, to quickly check out ideas. I adapt pieces as I make, according to shapes that appear in the process. An offcut, or something lying on the bench next to my work will suggest a new direction.
My making is the expression of ideas in jewellery form.

Artists Bio:
Originally from the UK, Rose is a jewellery creator whose pieces explore the intersection of material, form, and personal narrative. She studied for her Bachelor at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design and MA at the University of Portsmouth. Three months spent in the United States during her Bachelor? degree was an experience that had a lasting impact on her creative direction. This experience of openness and experimentalism, alongside exposure to European studio jewellery, continue to inform her approach.
After graduating, Rose worked for a decade in the jewellery sector of London. In 2013, she relocated to Berlin, Germany, drawn by the city? creative opportunities. There, she immersed herself in the world of goldsmithing, working and learning in several workshops. This hands-on experience deepened her understanding of the discipline and further shaped her creative direction.
In 2024, Rose co-founded a studio in Berlin with a long-time friend and collaborator. Blending influences from across materials and disciplines, Rose? work reflects a commitment to craftsmanship, curiosity, and the expressive potential of wearable objects.
