Artist Statement

Creating is about sharing emotions and stories.
I believe that the process behind the creation of an object can be compared to a narrative one. Shaping materials and colors allows the artist to express emotions, convey experiences, and engage with the viewer.

My work follows a process of deconstruction. The patterns found in my memories and daily observations become the foundation of my inspiration. They are reinterpreted as primordial elements and transformed into multidimensional pieces brought to life through bold colors.

The names of my pieces trace back to my personal experiences. Each work is connected to a moment or feeling, forming a descriptive process that fuses together shapes, colors, and stories.

Artist Bio:
Emy Gargiulo’s work reflects her diverse background. Growing up in Italy, she was influenced by her family’s deep appreciation for art and design. Inspired by the natural beauty of her surroundings, she began expressing her creativity at an early age.

After earning a Master in Architecture from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, Gargiulo moved to New York. She also holds a background in graphic design, painting, and photography.

In 2004, she founded her fashion accessories collection, mimimimosa, named after a childhood nickname. The Museum of Modern Art store carried the collection for several years, prominently featuring it in their catalog.

Her work has been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times, Interni, and Teen Vogue, and exhibited in both the U.S. and Europe.

My professional path has always been characterized by an interdisciplinary approach. In recent years, it has led me to explore projects in other fields, including branding and food. 2025 represents a return to my roots — to my passion — to an aspect of my creativity that I love and believe best represents me.
