My work is often inspired by the forms, patterns and relational intricacies that are found within nature and man-made systems. Looking within the fine details of these worlds offers a wonderfully eccentric palate for exploring surreal elements, dark humor, satire, and illogical frames. Playing with the practical and norms of forms, particularly with kinetics, helps to add an experience of surprise within a familiar character. Primarily made from precious metals, I integrate traditional metalsmithing techniques while developing new skills to widen my expression within my craft.

Artist bio:
Yuri Tozuka is a metalsmith based in Boston, Massachusetts. She studied special effects make up in Japan before moving to the U.S, where she completed her BFA in jewelry and metalsmithing from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Her art work explores the forms and structures between the natural and the industrial. Her jewelry and sculpture have been exhibited in galleries and institutions throughout the United
