Artist Statement

Grounded in a foundation of graphic design and visual storytelling, my creative practice explores the convergence of experimentation, precision, and playful intuition. Each piece evolves through a process of meticulous design and material exploration, balancing innovation with a commitment to exceptional craftsmanship. I employ laser-cutting techniques, sculptural geometry, and a minimalist visual language to express clarity and emotion through structure. My jewelry exists at the intersection of art and design — objects of personal expression that transcend ornamentation to become intimate works of wearable art. Inspiration and collaboration are central to the ethos of Karman Jewelry. Every collection is a journey of discovery, informed by artistic dialogue, material research, and cultural curiosity. These encounters continually refine my technical vocabulary and expand my creative boundaries. Ultimately, my work is an exploration of the human connection between object and wearer — how form, movement, and material come together to evoke emotion and meaning. I believe in the quiet power of design to elevate the everyday, and in the harmony between function, imagination, and beauty that defines the essence of contemporary jewelry.

Artist Bio:
Orsolya Karman is the founder of Karman Jewelry, a contemporary designer brand acclaimed for its bold vision and innovative approach to art jewelry. She holds a Master of Arts in Visual Communication from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), and her background as an Art Director informs her distinctive synthesis of graphic design precision and artistic expression. Since establishing Karman Jewelry in 2012, Orsolya has pursued an experimental design philosophy that integrates laser-cutting technology, unconventional materials, and architectural geometry. Her limited-edition collections redefine the boundaries between design and art, transforming jewelry into wearable sculptures that embody individuality, structure, and contemporary elegance. Her works reflect a deep sensitivity to proportion and composition — a dialogue between minimalism and expressive form — resulting in creations that resonate with both conceptual depth and refined craftsmanship.

In 2025, Karman received the Inhorgenta Award at Romanian Jewelry Week, recognizing her innovative contribution to contemporary jewelry design.
