Drawing on art history, I design symbolic objects of beauty that evoke the feeling of sunlight.

My studio practice explores form, pattern, and meaning. I come to jewelry through the lens of the golden adornment of ancient Egypt, the balanced geometry of the mid-century minimalists, and the rich historical traditions of iconography honoring the sun.

As an artist, jewelry is the most exciting medium I have encountered. It’s wearable. It’s intimate. Our choice of jewelry expresses who we are, and each piece carries with it a part of our history.

Artist bio:
Susan Hamilton Meier has been creating handmade fine jewelry in New York City for over 20 years. She is the founder and owner of SunLit Fine Jewelry.

Lit up by the golden treasures of ancient Egypt as a child, Susan trained as a painter and sculptor and studied art history at Dartmouth College. She started her career at Sotheby's Jewelry, surrounded by the most extraordinary jewels in the world. A lifelong passion for jewelry was ignited, and with it the calling to make fine jewels with her own hands.

After graduate work at the School of Visual Arts, she studied granulation at Jewelry Arts and then discovered wax carving at the Fred de Vos workshop, where she has worked since.

Susan sculpts and textures each piece by hand in wax in her studio in New York City, combining recycled high-karat gold with ethically sourced stones and precious metals to create powerful personal talismans inspired by the sun.
